The answer so far
For Thailand, check the substance portal first, then separate bringing a medicine into the country from taking it out. Covered narcotic or psychotropic medicines may require permission for travellers under treatment.
Thailand’s FDA Narcotics Control Division provides a traveller portal to check narcotic and psychotropic substances and request relevant permission. Rules vary by substance and direction of travel. We could not read the full 2026 guidance, so confirm the current requirements directly before relying on a deadline or quantity.12

Can you travel to Thailand with medicines? Choose a step to explore this subject in more detail.
Start with the Thai FDA portal
The official traveller portal provides a substance-checking function and a route for travellers under treatment to request permission for covered narcotic or psychotropic medicines. It lists separate guidance for bringing medicines into and taking them out of Thailand. Check the active ingredient and current classification rather than relying on a brand or seller’s label.1
Current guidance versus older documents
The Thai FDA portal lists newer guidance from 2026, but we could not read it in full. An official 2024 document describes requirements for some medicines; it cannot establish the current deadline, permitted amount or application procedure.
Check the live portal and confirm the requirements for your journey with the Thai authority. The portal returned a security-service suspension page when checked on 4 November 2026; availability can change. If you cannot access the current guidance, use the Thai FDA contact page to ask which office handles your product and journey.127
Finished medicines carried for personal use
In a separate FAQ, the Thai FDA discusses entry with a finished pharmaceutical product: for a traveller bringing a modern drug for personal use, it describes no more than 30 days of use and recommends the original container and a doctor’s prescription. The FAQ does not state an update date. This is an entry example for the category it describes, not permission for all substances, mailed imports or research peptides. Controlled narcotic and psychotropic medicines have separate requirements; confirm the classification and current rules with the Thai FDA before travelling.41
Ordinary medicines, supplements and stacks
The narcotics portal does not answer every question about ordinary medicines, dietary supplements or experimental peptides. A research-use label and an overseas prescription do not establish permission to import a stack. Ask the responsible Thai authority about the precise product and documentation if its category is uncertain.13
Food supplements: two official pages differ
For products Thailand classifies as food supplements, a Thai FDA personal-effects page dated 4 April 2023 and an undated Suvarnabhumi Airport page state different quantities. Neither page establishes whether your product is classified as a food supplement or whether its allowance is current. Check the exact ingredients, form and quantity with the Thai FDA Import and Export Inspection Division using the contact details on the airport page, and confirm any other border requirements. A peptide stack is not necessarily a food supplement, regardless of its seller’s description.56
Entry is not the whole itinerary
Check the rules for departure, transit and return as well as Thai entry, and distinguish airport screening from import permission. Allow time to obtain an authoritative answer and any applicable documents; do not infer a specific permit outcome from this summary.31
Complete the rest of the journey
The source dates below show when each source was consulted; confirm current rules with the responsible authority before departure. Check whether each source applies to visitors or residents and to entry, exit or transit. For the other parts of the trip see airport security, crossing borders and the travel hub.
